How much is PCV/PSV Training?

This page is here to answer just that.  You will find the price, a brief overview and a link to the relevant page of the website where more details on that stage can be found.

Medical & Theory Tests – from £175

These are covered by our PCV Starter Package for just £175 (£225 if you also require Driver CPC).  Purchasing/arranging each element yourself could easily total £270 or £315 respectively!

You will receive:

  • Provisional Licence application form D2
  • Digital Tachograph Card application form
  • A medical booked on your behalf (as much as £150 with some doctors)
  • DVSA PCV Theory Test Book
  • DVSA Hazard Perception DVD
  • DVSA Guide to Driving Buses and Coaches Book
  • Highway Code Book
  • Multiple Choice Theory Test booked on your behalf
  • Hazard Perception Theory Test booked on your behalf

If you require CPC you will also receive:

  • DVSA Guide to PCV Case Studies Theory Book
  • Case Studies Theory Test booked on your behalf

Category D1 – from £805

D1 training is charged at £65/hr with practical test fees of £40 & £115.

If you are a confident person who has experience in driving large vans, are able to receive instruction and reapply it well – a 10 hour course may be adequate for you priced at just £805 including both practical test fees.

Category D1+E – from £Contact

D1 training is charged at £Contact/hr with practical test fees of £40 & £115.

If you are a confident person who has experience in driving large vans, are able to receive instruction and reapply it well – a 8 hour course may be adequate for you priced at just £Contact including the practical test fee.

Category D – £Contact

Category D courses are usually run from Monday to Friday.  They include:

  • 24 hours vehicle and instructor time
  • DVSA PCV Practical Driving Test Fees (£40 & £115)
  • DVSA DCPC Practical Demonstration Test Fee (£55)
Typically practical driving test takes place on the Friday with the DCPC Practical Demonstration on usually either the Wednesday or Thursday.
You are required to have passed your PCV Multiple Choice, Hazard Perception and Case Studies theories before attending a Category D course.

Driver CPC Initial Qualification – £345*

If you passed your car test after 1/1/97 then you will more than likely be required to complete this qualification.

You will receive:

  • Learning material for theory test (Case Studies)
  • Theory test booked on your behalf
  • Learning material for practical test (Vehicle Safety Demonstration)
  • 4 Hours instructor/vehicle time (pre-practical training and test time)
  • Use of a vehicle for practical test
  • Practical test booked on your behalf

Driver CPC Periodic Training

This is the 35 hours training that must be completed every 5 years in order to remain a professional PCV/PSV driver.  7 Hour Modules are £75 and 35 Hour Courses are £325 – group booking discounts are available.
