Obtaining Your Provisional PCV / PSV Licence

In order to be able to train to drive a PCV / PSV you must first have the provisional entitlements added to your licence.  To do this you must have a PCV Medical Examination.  You can have this medical with your own GP who would tend to charge approximately £100-150. We are able to arrange you a medical as part of a package.The medical will involve quite a lengthy questionaire and will be followed by an eyesight test, blood pressure measurement, urine test and a full physical examination – heart, lungs, circulation, nervous and musculoskeletal system and abdomen.

Once the doctor has completed the D4 Medical Examination form, you will need to fill in form D2 and post both forms along with your current driving licence to the DVLA.  Your licence should then be returned in approximately 1-3 weeks with the provisional entitlements added.

Theory and Hazard Perception

Whilst you are waiting for your licence to be returned from the DVLA you should take the opportunity to study for both Theory Tests – Multiple Choice and Hazard Perception.  We would only recommend using DVSA publications because, at the end of the day, they are the people who write the tests!Once you have received your licence back from the DVLA with the provisional entitlements added, your Multiple Choice, Hazard Perception and Case Studies theory tests can be booked. Again, we are able to offer all relevant literature and book the Multiple Choice and Hazard Perception tests for you as part of a package.  Please be aware that the Multiple Choice test changed from the beginning of 2015. When attending tests you MUST have your photocard licence. Once you have passed the required Theory Tests (Multiple Choice, Hazard Perception and Case Studies) we can move on to the practical training for Category D1 or Category D.
