Category D Training

(Bus/Coach)

Category D PCV / PSV training runs around Ipswich, Suffolk and uses the DVSA Test Centre in Ipswich. D is the category that allows you to drive a bus or coach with more than 16 passenger seats.

A 24 hour category D course is £Contact. This fee covers training for both your practical driving test and DCPC Practical Demonstration, and includes ALL practical test fees – £40, £115 and £55.

Once you have passed your Multiple Choice, Hazard Perception and Case Studies theory tests your D practical course can be arranged and the practical tests can be booked – the driving test lasts approximately 0.5 hours and 1 hour with the CPC test lasting approximately 0.5 hours.

The Category D practical test consists of several parts:

‘Show Me Tell Me D‘ – You will be asked 5 questions from the list
Reverse Manoeuvre Test 3a – Off Road (See Below)
General Road Driving Test 3b – On Road
Independent Drive – On Road included in 3b

When attending training and test you MUST have BOTH parts of your licence and theory & case study certificates.

This is the reverse exercise that will be part of your test, demonstrated here by our Category C vehicle. Sorry about the windy day!

Upon passing your Category D practical test, your examiner will send your licence to the DVLA for updating to the full entitlement.
