Banksman Training Course

(Reversing Assistant)

Banksman training courses are carried our by our sister company Total Training and can be run in Ipswich, Felixstowe, Bury St Edmunds, Stowmarket, Newmarket and other surrounding areas of Suffolk at your own site (please contact us for Essex, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire). The aim is to train your employees in the procedures of a vehicle banksman. An instructor will attend for a full day to train novices and provide refreshers for existing operatives.

This course is a must for anyone who is responsible for assisting in the manoeuvring of vehicles on and off your site. Your staff will receive the required training in order to become competent in giving assistance to drivers manoeuvring vehicles within a limited amount of space.

On completion of an assessment carried out on the candidates, they will each be issued with a Certificate of Competence.

Structure

Courses are conducted at your premises using your own vehicle (rigid or articulated) and equipment. A driver for the vehicle will be required – this can be an alternation of the candidates or if none are familiar with driving you will be required to provide a driver for the length of the course. We are able to provide a driver but this will be at an additional cost.

Content

To know and understand the roles of both the driver and banksman
To instruct on the safe manoeuvring of vehicles within a limited space
To identify locations of danger within the working area (Risk Assessment)
To teach HSE and RTITB recommended code of signals (HSE 136)
To explain the meanings of signs and use of Equipment & PPE
To guide Large Goods Vehicles, both rigid and articulated, using the recommended code of signals
To understand the issues that might arise from manoeuvring a vehicle incorrectly

Outcome

Staff will have the competence required to manoeuvre vehicles by signals
A reduction in the risk of injury to members of staff/public
Minimisation to damage of vehicles and property from incorrect manoeuvring of vehicles.

Cost

Half Day 4 Hour Course – £250 (1-3 candidates) plus £150 if driver required

Full Day 8 Hour Course – £400 (4-6 candidates) plus £200 if driver required
